...For 132 years (1851 - 1983), the United States enjoyed the longest winning streak in all of sport. They were the holders of the America's Cup, the oldest and most distinguished trophy in sport. The America's Cup is the Holy Grail of yacht racing. It also happens to be a match race. With the start of the World Match Race Tour, amateur sailors have been able to make a name for themselves in match racing, therefore using it as a springboard to the America's Cup.

.

Match Racing is simple. It is a duel between two identically matched boats. In match racing, there is a winner - and there is a loser. The races are short and intense and there is an emphasis on boat handling and crewing. Match Racing is actually fun to watch, unlike other sailing competitions. Many of the matches are close and highly competitive with each match lasting only 15 to 20 minutes. The sport has taken off in Europe in the last 8 years with the start of the World Match Racing Tour. It is our goal to have a permanent spot on The World Match Racing Tour by 2009. This past October our match race team competed in our first Tour event, the Bermuda Gold Cup.
